Update on Caitlin's Condition, 3-13-2008, 9:43 am

Caitlin remains in critical condition in St. Thomas's ICU department but is "holding her own"!! Her kidneys have not resumed function to date and doctors may attempt to "jump start" them by giving her Lasix this morning. She was totally off oxygen for a period of time but had to resume using O2 (only at 1 liter). Caitlin's platelets are still low and she may require a second transfusion today. However, Caitlin appears more alert this morning, is able to use her incentive spirometer to full capacity (Yeah!) and is performing ankle rolls, etc. to help regain her range of motion (she has had to lie so still due to the many catheter and IV lines she has). It will likely be another week or two before she is released from the hospital. She remains so sweet that, when she drifts off to sleep during the middle of a conversation with someone, her mother reported that Caitlin will catch herself and wake up and then immediately apologize for being rude!!!! That's why we love her so much and continue to send prayers and well wishes her way!! --Aunt Jo
