March 17th, 4 p.m.

Hi all, I guess now that Brandon and Ryan are in Michigan I'll be the one updating Caitlin's condition (which I guess makes sense since I'm sitting right here next to her  :) !!!).
Caitlin has had a long day today.  She went to dialysis this morning for 4 hours and slept pretty much thru that, then when she got back to her room, a wound care specialist arrived to take a look at the skin lesions she has.  Her Aunt Kathy arrived with reubans for us to eat but just when she was settling back in, physical therapy showed up.  They were able to wait an hour or so before they got her out of bed and after 30 minutes she was back in bed.  This infection has taken so much out of her - she can't walk more than a step or two and only with a person on each side of her to support her.  She continues to be in acute renal failure but the doctors feel strongly that she will get kidney function back, it just may take a bit of time.  The kidney MD is planning on putting a permcath in her chest tomorrow so that she can continue to enjoy the dialysis process even after she goes home.  Her white blood count continues to rise but the doctors say that all the numbers they are seeing are not surprising and part of the recovery process after such an aggressive bacterial infection.  Her red blood count is down and they are saying that she may have to have a blood transfusion or two by the end of the week.  They are giving her SQ injections to help build up her red blood count to try to alleviate the possibility of a transfusion.  All in all, the outlook today compared to this time last Monday is nothing short of a miracle.  Thank you to all who continue to pray for her recovery, it's probably going to be a long one.

Caitlin you are going good! Keep it up! It's all a thought process. Just tell the bad guys in the body to go away. Keep fighting! I am praying for you! =)

Its great to hear that you are doing better. I have checked back everyday to see how you are doing. I really am praying for you and hope that everything gets better and better each day. I have asked my fiance's mom, who is a nurse, to explain all the medical stuff so I could get a grasp of your status. I am still praying for you and your family. Yo have so much support and I am happy to see you feeling a little bit better!
