Update 3-15-08 9:30 am

It's Saturday morning, 3/15/08, and here's the latest update regarding Caitlin's status....
Her Mom reports that she slept very well last night but woke up with joint pain and stiffness, especially in her knees; the medical staff are addressing this with some pain medication. Dialysis is in store for Caitlin sometime this morning as her lab values are creeping upward...still no kidney function, obviously, but doctors are still not surprised as it may be 7-10 days (maybe even up to 6 weeks) before her kidneys "kick in". All of Caitlin's vital signs are good this am, no temperature, good blood pressure and clear lung sounds. Her white blood cell count has escalated from 3,000 when she was admitted to ER last Sunday to 44,000; this is not too unexpected or worrisome at this point, as it may indicate that Caitlin's immune response is working on its own and mounting an attack against this bacterial infection. Blood cultures are negative for ongoing bacterial infection at this point, with all the antibiotics Caitlin has had infused. A real concern, however, remains the possible onset of secondary infections, such as pneumonia, urinary tract infections, gastric issues, etc. Please continue to pray hard for Caitlin and her family...it is a long road ahead in her recovery. Our sincerest appreciation and love to all who are doing just that!!!

Caitlin, this is Tony Dodson and his family, Kelly, Maria, and Ben. We just heard about your hospitalization from your Dad, and wanted to let you know that you are in our prayers and we'll put you on the prayer list at church. It sounds as if you're getting better, and that's good news! May God continue to be with you!

Hi Caitlin, You don't know me, but I saw the prayer chain on facebook from my nephew. I have a daughter who will be 21 next Saturday and my son will be 17 next month. I thank God everyday that they are healthy, but I also know how things can change in a matter of seconds.

I just wanted to let you know, you have lots of people praying for you and your continuing recovery. Sounds like you are improving by leaps and bounds. I will continue to check for updates on you. I'm sure you will have comments from lots of people you know and some of us you don't. Just know you are a very special young lady and have touched a lot of peoples lives, including mine.

Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Hi Caitlin! My name is Dan Holdsworth and, with my wife Michele, we own the mobile home park that your father is contracted to manage. We just wanted you to know that we are putting in some prayers for you as well as for your family (it is always hard to see someone you care for in distress). Also, your dad is a great guy! It is a true pleasure to know him, and we are certain that you, too, would be a pleasure to know. We hope to meet you one day soon! Your brother is really cool to put together this web site so that everyone can keep tabs on your recovery...keep it up!
